A 100MB file is too large for most email attachments, many portal uploads, and some messaging platforms. This guide explains the fastest free way to compress a 100MB file — whatever format it is.
Step 1: Identify the File Type
The right compression approach depends on whether your file is a video, PDF, or image. CompressAndGo automatically detects the file type and applies the most effective strategy.
Compressing a 100MB Video
- Open CompressAndGo and click the Videos tab
- Choose your quality preset — Balanced is recommended for most use cases
- Drop your video file in
- The FFmpeg engine runs locally in your browser and compresses the video without uploading a single byte
A 100MB video compressed on Balanced quality often comes out at 20–40MB depending on the source resolution and length.
Compressing a 100MB PDF
- Stay on the Images & PDFs tab
- Type your target KB into the input field — for example 10240 for 10MB
- Drop your PDF in
- For scanned PDFs with lots of images, enable Max Compression mode for deeper reduction
Compressing a 100MB Image
Large images (especially RAW exports or high-resolution PNGs) can be compressed significantly. Type your target size in the KB field, choose WebP for the best results, and let the AI engine do the work.
How Long Does It Take?
Compression speed depends on your device's CPU and the file size. Most 100MB files compress in under two minutes. No upload wait — processing starts immediately.
